Bellator 106 Medical Suspensions

November 5, 2013

The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has released the full list of medical suspensions related to this past Saturday’s Bellator 106 fight card. Two fighters would receive possible six month suspensions related to their respective fights, including Fight Master champion Joe Riggs, with all fighters receiving at least seven-day suspensions.

Bellator 106 saw a gory main event between now-champion Eddie Alvarez and former champion Michael Chandler. While the two fighters engaged in an exciting back-and-forth battle that left both men battered and bloodied, both men got off with only sixty day suspensions.

While it was first reported by Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney that Chandler immediately left for the hospital after the fight, the former champion did not require the visit after getting stitches on site at the Long Beach Arena. Newly crowned champion Eddie Alvarez would require a trip to the hospital for precautionary reasons after leaving the post-fight press conference after feeling nauseous but was quickly released.

As always, fighters can be cleared early by a physician or can be out longer due to an injury that is discovered in the following days.
